    Check casing for leaks & cap for water tightness, ground surface sloped away from well for 15 feet in all directions, shock chlorination, test for coliform bacteria, nitrate, pH & dissolved solids.

    Test at least annually for bacteria and nitrate. Bacteria tests each quarter are recommended. Water should be tested for common impurities and nuisance contaminants every few years.
